Open your heart, open your home Our kids are our future…
help build our future by becoming an Albany County foster parent.

Foster care services provide children under the age of 18 with a temporary home in the community.

Settings vary in level and intensity depending on the child's needs. We emphasize permanency and make reasonable and diligent efforts to reunite families.

Prospective foster parents will need to participate in an in home orientation session.

2025 training for foster parent certification

Albany County uses the National Training and Development Curriculum for Foster and Adoptive Parents (NTDC) for all of our foster and adoptive parents.

All classes are in Room 900 of the Albany County Office Building, located at 112 State Street, Albany, NY

Training is on Thursdays from 6:00-9:00PM.

February 6, 13, 20, 27;
March 6, 13.

Session Two Classes

April 10, 17, 24;
May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29;
June 5, 12.

Session Three Classes

September 18, 25;
October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30;
November 6, 13, 20.
