Welcome to the home page of the Albany County Hall of Records (ACHOR) in Albany, New York. Our Hall of Records is a joint program of the County of Albany, NY, and the City of Albany, NY, and began operations in 1982.

Albany County’s Hall of Records is located at 95 Tivoli Street (directions) in Albany. Our new building is larger, has much more room for public access, and better public parking. Our telephone number is (518) 436-3663. Our hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

The Albany County Hall of Records is unique among county agencies in that it is a joint city and county collection. Because the archival records of both Albany County and the City of Albany are housed in one location, the public is better able to research local history. Expenses incurred to provide secure vault storage, public search room space, and trained staff are shared by the two participating governments.

We are proud of the quality and friendliness of the staff here. At the same time, we are grateful to County Executive Dan McCoy, Mayor Kathy Sheehan, the Albany County Legislature, and the Common Council of the City of Albany for their consistent support of records management generally and our Hall of Records in particular.
