The Albany County Probation Department is currently seeking volunteers for the Juvenile Community Accountability Board (JCAB). This program seeks to help juveniles understand the impact crime has on the community, and to allow them an opportunity to repair harm.

Project Growth

Project Growth is a program consisting of occupation/educational projects designed to address the needs of juveniles and young adults who owe restitution.  During the four week program, the participants receive hands-on instruction from Probation staff and community mentors.  The mentors vary from project to project and may include trade union members, expert practitioners of a given occupation or simply interested and motivated volunteers.

Probation Services

Agency services include the preparation of pre-sentence investigations and reports for the criminal courts and the supervision of criminals sentenced to probation. Investigation and supervision functions are also provided for criminals released from the jail by the Local Conditional Release Commission. Intake, investigation and supervision services are provided for Family Court. Many discretionary services for pretrial and alternative sentencing are also provided. This county probation department participates in PINS (Person In Need of Supervision).
