Albany County, NY
Home MenuBy taking a few hours a week, I can make a difference as a Sexual Assault Hotline Advocate.
I can answer calls from people who need to talk to someone after hours.
I can accompany a victim to the hospital and provide support during a critical time.
I can educate friends, neighbors and colleagues about preventing sexual violence.

Our volunteers are trained & certified
The Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center utilizes volunteers as court advocates and sexual assault crisis hotline counselors.
Volunteers complete an intensive training program which prepares them for crime victim advocacy in the Albany County local courts or on the 24-hour sexual assault crisis hotline.
Court Advocate volunteers complete a total of fifty hours of online training to become an Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) certified Crime Victim Advocate.
Upon completion of a thirty-five hour training sequence Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline volunteers become certified by the NYS Department of Health as Rape Crisis Counselors and provide advocacy and support to sexual assault victims on the phone and in the Albany County hospital emergency departments and police stations.
