Open year round to the public for bird watching, cross country skiing, fishing, hiking, ice fishing, nature study, picnicking, snowshoeing and the use of canoes and portable cartop watercraft.

Use of the buildings is by special permit only, and can be applied for at the Lawson Lake Information Center, 293 Lawson Lake Road, Feura Bush, NY 12067, or by calling (518) 768-2560.

Park roads are seasonal limited use roads with no maintenance from November 15 through April 15.

The following uses and activities are prohibited: consumption of alcoholic beverages, hunting, trapping, motorized vehicles, motorized boats and large watercraft requiring trailers, open fires, overnight camping, and swimming.

Conveniently located on the border of the towns of Coeymans and New Scotland, this beautiful 420-acre park includes a lake, wetlands, forested upland, open fields, waterfalls and streams. Directions

A variety of fish make their home in the lake, including black crappie, large mouth bass, pickerel, and various sunfish. Many species of birds live in the park, and there are excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, including several species of protected fauna.

There are two points of access for boating (with car top vessels only) and fishing.

The park has three marked trails. Two on the lower half of the park and one on the upper, which offer access for hiking and cross-country skiing. Hiking Trails & Map

Once the home of Camp Opportunities, we have worked hard to restore the summer youth programs and renewed efforts to improve the park facilities to better accommodate public use and protect natural resources. We hope that this may bring forth new opportunities for the families of Albany County to enjoy the park throughout the year. With an appreciation that there remains more to do, and an understanding that municipal resources are not unlimited, we have been reaching out to the community for the assistance needed to restore Lawson Lake County Park to its original promise.
