The initial steps in mapping have been taken to reflect the current 39 Legislative districts updated with 2020 census data, showing the deviations in population; to highlight the current majority minority districts and to highlight areas across Albany County where minority populations exist. In addition, the MMD has created an additional draft map reflecting an additional majority minority district
The public is invited and encouraged to submit maps to the ACRC and MMD either via the MORe software, or by sending a document to RedistrictingCommission@AlbanyCountyNY.gov.
The ACRC has contracted with Applied Geographics Inc. (AppGeo) for mapping services, and is using an industry standard software, Maptitude, with its online component "MORe".
The MMD has contracted with ARCBridge for mapping services and has produced maps highlighting majority minority districts and minority populations across Albany County.
